Eco-Friendly & Sustainable Fabrics
As part of our wider commitment to sustainability, we aim to provide fabric options that not only perform well in contract environments but also contribute to a more sustainable future. Many of our fabrics are eco-friendly and sustainably sourced, helping support more responsible interior design choices without compromising on quality or performance. Working with trusted suppliers, we prioritise materials that are low-impact, responsibly produced, and fully traceable wherever possible. These fabrics are designed with lasting performance in mind, helping to reduce waste and the need for frequent replacements.
Antimicrobial Fabrics
We provide a range of anti-microbial fabrics designed to support cleaner, safer environments, particularly within care homes and healthcare settings. Using proven technologies, these fabrics actively help to inhibit the growth and spread of bacteria on the surface, reducing the risk of cross-contamination in high-use areas. This added layer of protection is especially important in environments where residents may be more vulnerable to illness. By incorporating anti-microbial properties into our fabric options, we help promote better hygiene standards whilst maintaining comfort and visual appeal.
As well as promoting safety through our antimicrobial fabrics, we also routinely apply Hygienilac spray to all our upholstered furniture frames and the edges of our cabinets. This specialist coating helps provide an additional layer of protection, further supporting cleanliness and hygiene.
Antimicrobial Furniture
Hygienilac is a non-toxic, antimicrobial lacquer that has been tested and approved by organisations such as the FDA, HSE, and the EPA. It’s BS 6250 certified and complies with BS EN 71.3 standards. The technology works by actively preventing the growth and spread of harmful microbes on treated surfaces, eliminating up to 99.9% of many common bacteria, including MRSA, Salmonella, and E. coli.
Independent testing by Bodycote Lawlabs and FDAS has also demonstrated its ability to wipe out a variety of bacteria, including C. difficile. The coating has even received a Point 3 award from the NHS Infection Control Rapid Review Panel in the Surface Coating Category, further reinforcing its effectiveness. Hygienilac can also remain effective for up to 10 years, meaning that our furniture provides lasting performance that you can count on.
Fire Retardant Fabrics
Our upholstery fabrics and soft furnishings are also fire retardant and fully compliant with current fire safety regulations, meaning that your interiors are not only attractive but also helping contribute towards better safety.
We take fire safety very seriously. So, in order to help protect staff, residents, and visitors, our fabrics are thoroughly tested to meet British standards. This means that, under test conditions, the fabrics resist ignition and don’t shed any flaming debris. By ensuring that they meet strict requirements, you can feel confident knowing that our furniture and soft furnishings remain suitable for use in demanding contract environments.
Water-Resistant, Easy-Clean & Care Fabrics
Maintaining strong hygiene and infection control becomes much easier when furniture fabrics are water-resistant and easy to clean. At Barons, we’re also proud to offer a wide selection of fabrics which are simple to maintain, ranging from durable coated vinyl to materials which are soft to the touch.
Featuring built-in properties or protective coatings that make them water resistant, hardwearing, and simple to wipe clean, these fabrics help protect upholstery and soft furnishings from fluid ingress, staining, fading, mildew, and bacterial growth, supporting the creation of clean and attractive environments, particularly in care and healthcare settings. When paired with antimicrobial protection, they can also help minimise the spread of infection, and with a wide variety of colours and designs available, you promote hygiene whilst still matching your interior designs.
